Celebrate • Take a few days, weeks (or even months if time allows) to really enjoy your engagement! Spend time with your significant other, or consider throwing an engagement party to celebrate with friends & family!

Insure your Rock • Yes! You must insure that beautiful diamond. A general rule of thumb is to pay $1 to $2 for every $100 of your ring’s replacement. This is an annual fee- so if you have a $6k ring, expect to pay $60-$120 a year.

Buy a Planner • Stay organized & focused on deadlines by purchasing a planner with a calendar & places to write notes & contact info.

Decide on a Season • Your wedding date will depend on wedding venue availability. Instead of aiming for a specific date right away, choose the season or aim only for a certain month.

Talk about your Budget • Who is involved in the financials for your special day? Determining your budget will direct you in which venue & vendors you ultimately choose. While this may be a difficult conversation, it’s a crucial step - (especially in the very beginning.)

Build a vision board on Pinterest • Utilize Pinterest & start piecing together your vision. Make the board private so only you can see your ideas!

Discuss a Guest Count • Do you and/or your partner come from large families? Will everyone and their cousin’ cousins’ be invited? Or do you want something more intimate?

Local or Destination? • Are you considering staying local for your wedding? Or are you thinking you’d rather say “I Do’s” somewhere far away from home?

Research Venues • Inside, outside, church or barn, waterfront, golf course, woods or farm? The list goes on and on..what do you envision?

Consider your Bridal Party • Who do you see standing by your side on the big day? It may be easy for you, or quite difficult to choose. However, If you originally think 5 people & suddenly you have an epiphany & want 8 bridesmaids & 8 groomsmen- Do it. Go with your gut. (Pssst- you don’t have to ask anyone right away!)

Enjoy your Engagement • The planning process has just begun & you’ve got a long way to go - you must remind yourself to enjoy the process. Take a deep breath & trust me - it’ll fly by!

Lastly, schedule a phone call with a planner or a day of coordinator. Let us help put you at ease!
